Homemade Cranberry Sauce



Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water or orange juice
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored and diced
  • 1 cup chopped dried mixed fruit or golden raisins
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions:  

In a medium pot, boil the water and sugar. Reduce the heat to simmer then add cranberries, apple, dried fruit, nuts, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst. 

Remove from heat, add it to the serving bowl, and let cool to room temperature.
